Navratri has always been close to our heart. It’s not just a festival — it’s a sacred journey of nine nights and ten days, where we honour the nine forms of Goddess Durga, or Navdurga. Each day represents a different form of the Goddess, symbolising courage, wisdom, purity, prosperity, and ultimate victory of good over evil.

For many of us, Navratri also means fasting. But fasting here isn’t about starving. It’s about discipline, purification, and balance — giving the body a break from heavy foods and aligning the mind and soul with devotion.

At OMKITCHEN, We wanted to create something special for this Navratri — a 9-day curated menu that celebrates tradition, health, and taste. All dishes are specially prepared for fasting, using organic ingredients that are light, sattvik, and nourishing, so you can enjoy your vrat without worrying about preparation, variety, or hygiene.

Why Fasting Matters During Navratri

Fasting in Hindu tradition is more than ritual — it’s symbolic and scientific.

  • Spiritual Significance: By avoiding onion, garlic, and grains, we shift towards sattvik (pure) food, which helps calm the mind and enhance focus during prayers.
  • Health Benefits: Grains are replaced by nutrient-rich millets and flours like samak, rajgira, kuttu, singhara. These are naturally gluten-free, rich in fibre, and easy to digest.
  • Seasonal Reset: Navratri falls during seasonal changes, when immunity dips. Light, wholesome fasting foods help detoxify and strengthen the body.

Fasting, then, is not deprivation — it’s a mindful reset for body, mind, and spirit.

The Nine Days of Navdurga

Each day of Navratri is dedicated to one form of Goddess Durga. Here’s how the nine divine nights unfold:

  1. Day 1 – Shailputri (Daughter of the Mountains): Symbol of strength and natural energy.
  2. Day 2 – Brahmacharini: Embodiment of wisdom, devotion, and austerity.
  3. Day 3 – Chandraghanta: Symbol of courage and fearlessness.
  4. Day 4 – Kushmanda: The creative power of the universe.
  5. Day 5 – Skandamata: The nurturing, motherly form of Durga.
  6. Day 6 – Katyayani: Fierce and powerful, the destroyer of evil.
  7. Day 7 – Kalaratri: Fierce protector, who removes darkness.
  8. Day 8 – Mahagauri: The radiant Goddess, symbolising purity.
  9. Day 9 – Siddhidatri: The granter of boons and spiritual power.

Our specially curated meals are a humble offering to these divine days — nourishing you while you immerse in devotion.
