Mother's Day is a day that we use as an opportunity to share the love and care we have for our mothers. This event is not about personal enjoyment but rather the appreciation of women and their hard work, which forms a valuable part of our lives.
We all know that for many, Mother's Day has been about the gifts we give to those special women in our lives. But there's something much more than that, especially since this day is more about the love we show to these amazing ladies.
The origin of Mother's Day can be traced back to ancient times, when the goddesses were worshipped through festival celebrations. One in particular was for the Roman goddess Cybele, the most renowned goddess known as the Mother of the Gods. One of the features of the festivals was a procession, feasts, and gifts presented to her divinity. The Romans also had a spring festival called Hilaria in honour of the joy brought by the goddess Cybele.
Modern Mother's Day and the history behind its inception is credited to Anna Jarvis. She was inspired by her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, who had struggled greatly to develop as well as to ensure the health and safety of women and children throughout the 19th century.

When her mother passed away in 1905, it was her duty to carry the tribute of all mothers to her mother's memory. Finally, in the year 1915, Mother's Day was recognised as a holiday in the USA. After that, Mother's Day turned into a great global celebration, although the date and the traditions in each country are different from each other. On this day, we will be flying our flags and hugging our mothers as a sign of love for them and everything under the sun we associate with motherhood.

Instead of getting only a card or a standard gift, let's surprise them by making them something that is unique to them and that we create ourselves. It does not matter if it is something tasty that will make her happy, a card you have taken the time to make by hand, or spending time with her, which is the only thing that matters, your mother shows that it is not only on Mother's Day that she feels loved but every day.
